Little girl, BIG questions

For quite a while now, Lily has been full of questions and wonderings about God, Jesus, and the Scriptures.  Oh, what I'd give to have them all recorded!  So, today I will record two of her questions (a small fraction from just today).  I can barely begin to describe the answers, because each one stirs up more questions, and we go around and around asking and answering.

* "Why are there two kinds of hope? ... Like hope in Christ and when you want something to happen." [I love that she sensed the difference - yes, baby, there is a HUGE difference!  Our hope is sure and certain in Christ!]

* "What is destiny?  I know it isn't like on the GPS destination...when they say you have arrived at your destination. [I couldn't help but giggle at this point. :)]  Why does Jesus command it?  What is command?" [Thank God for his sovereignty over our lives...cause I get lost sometimes even with my GPS!]

I have to pray for wisdom everyday as I answer, for my little girl, these BIG questions.  Praise God for her curious little mind and heart!   The following song lyrics are the root of those 2 questions (and many others!):

"In Christ Alone"

In Christ alone my
hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev'ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my
destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.
